About Me:
I've taught English in South Korea. For years I worked as a freelance journalist. I've sold everything from security equipment to hotel booking systems. I've explored Eastern Europe, South America and South East Asia. I'm currently in south London. My name is Chris. Good to make your acquaintance.
SYNOPSIS:
In Colombia, kidnapping is seen as a business, a very profitable business. Every year dozens of people are kidnapped, mostly rich North American and European travellers. Extreme paramilitary groups such as the FARC – revolutionary armed forces of Colombia - use the vast amounts of money generated from their drug trafficking and kidnapping to sponsor their long running rebel war on the Colombian government.
‘The Thief's Son’ takes place in a small southern Colombian town called Sevilla. Sam Locke is a brilliant young photojournalist from England. For the past few months Sam has been travelling through Colombia covering its rebel uprising. But he has a second, more important reason for being in Colombia. Sam is looking for his estranged father Jack. Jack Locke, a seasoned London criminal, fled the capital during the early eighties after leaving behind his six year old son, Sam, and wife Rachael.
After several aimless years floating around South America, Jack has now settled in Colombia. He has a new racket going on, kidnapping foreigners, foreigners on their travels. It could make him a lot of money, certainly more than he made cracking safes back in England. During his last few days of his Colombian trip Sam finds himself kidnapped. Not by the rebel army, but by a gang of men who work for his own father.
Jack Locke is completely oblivious to all this but needs to collect on one more ransom before he can leave Sevilla for good. He needs the money fast so as he can pay off the local farmers who have been kidnapping on his behalf. But time is running out. To the north of the city, the rebel FARC army is rumoured to be closing in. They’ve heard about Jack’s little scam and are not best pleased at having to compete with an outsider for hostages.
It is Sam’s bad luck that he finds himself slap, bang in the middle!

I plan a series of mystery thrillers with Jack Locke at the centre of each one. With every new novel we'll find Jack in a different country, wraped up in yet another misadventure, fighting to disentangle himself from whatever trouble he's managed to land himself in! It's going to be great fun. I'm looking forward to the challenge. Your support will help set the foundations for a cracking series of books! Jump on board!
